E-learning...the new fad of higher education!

A brief browse in search engine would reveal to you that e-learning is among the most searched topics on the internet, specially by academics. Following are some definitions and ideas when browsing "e-Learning":

Learning facilitated and supported through the use of information and communications technology, e-learning can cover a spectrum of activities from supported learning, to blended learning (the combination of traditional and e-learning practices), to learning that is entirely online. Whatever the technology, however, learning is the vital element. ...

A key issue in pedagogy is individualization, ie, adapting the teaching to the needs of various learners. In many cases, however, IT supported education has so far focussed most on porting existing courses with traditional teaching methods onto the web, just making non-individualized teaching even more widely available. The semantic web has potential regarding the creation of more intelligent e-learning applications, providing individualization without a prohibitive increase in man-power. ...

Remember Auschstine!

Israel's West Bank Barrier (Wall) has become the most visible manifestation of the Israeli military occupation and most pressing issue for Palestinians. Often misleadingly called a "fence", the considerable structure snakes through the West Bank on Palestinian land, leaving Palestinians on the wrong side isolated from their land, extended families, and way of life.

On 8 December 2003, the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted a resolution (A/RES/ES-10/14) in which it requested the International Court of Justice to "urgently render an advisory opinion on the legal consequences arising from the construction of the wall being built by Israel, in the occupied Palestinian territories, including in and around East Jerusalem, considering the rules and principles of international law. The Request for an Advisory Opinion was transmitted to the Court by the Secretary-General of the United Nations in a letter dated 8 December 2003 which was received in the Registry on 10 December 2003. The ICJ ruling against the Barrier was rendered on 9 July 2004.

Well, I would presume that Israel's West Bank Barrier is not less serious than Auschwitz (1944). It's time for the world community to act.

World Cup 2006

Seventeen years after the fall of the Berlin wall, a reunified Germany will throw open its doors to the world. Germany 2006 will be a place where people from all around the world will be welcomed by friends, in the spirit of the striking slogan chosen by the organisers: Die Welt zu Gast bei Freunden. smile smile

What is a blog?

A blog is often a mixture of what is happening in a person's life and what is happening on the Web, a kind of an online hybrid diary/guide site. There are as many unique types of blogs as there are people.
People maintained blogs long before the term was coined, but the trend gained momentum with the introduction of automated published systems. Blogs are alternatively called web logs or weblogs. However, "blog" seems less likely to cause confusion, as "web log" can also mean a server's log files.

This is is the first time I install a blog on my website. It will provide me with an opportunity to share ideas, news and comments about a variety of issues with you.
